For the first Fackelmann Brands Future Report of the traditional Middle Franconian company Fackelmann, we started with a structured inventory of all of the company’s existing sustainability activities. The aim was to create a transparent and well-founded basis for reporting that reflects both the current status and future potential. All relevant sustainability initiatives, processes and measures were recorded and analyzed in detail.
In a subsequent online workshop, we worked with the company to identify the key topics for the future report. The focus was on the core topics of the sustainability strategy, which are of particular importance to both the company and its stakeholders. In addition, the relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) were defined in order to make progress measurable and comprehensible – also taking into account the internationally recognized standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
Based on these comprehensive figures, data and facts, we developed the three central fields of action of Fackelmann’s sustainability management. Each of these fields of action summarizes essential aspects of sustainability and ensures a clear strategic direction:
Buy Better – Focuses on products & materials with the aim of promoting more sustainable raw materials and more environmentally friendly production processes.
Nature First – Focuses on the environment and resources, in particular the reduction of the ecological footprint throughout the value chain.
Role Model – Deals with the topics of employees and social issues in order to strengthen responsible entrepreneurship and a positive corporate culture.
With this clear structure, the report places Fackelmann’s sustainability performance in a wider context and makes progress and future goals transparent and comprehensible.
The guiding principle of the report is based on the company’s basic idea of resource-conserving and durable product design in order to ensure a sustainable future in every home in the long term. This idea runs through the entire report, both in terms of content and design.
In contrast to traditional sustainability reports, Fackelmann has chosen the title “Future Report”, which reflects the guiding principle. In addition to the measures that have already been implemented and those that are ongoing, we have also repeatedly taken a look into the future in the report and worked out the planned objectives.
