Packaging for the new trend product: Voelkel ginger shots

Ginger has been experiencing a real hype for years: what was once primarily known as a natural cold killer has long since established itself as a year-round immune booster. Whether as a hot tea, in smoothies or pure as a shot – the root has become an integral part of everyday life for many health-conscious people. Voelkel has recognized this trend and launched Voelkel Ginger Shots, an innovative product that meets the needs of modern consumers. The small, powerful shots offer an uncomplicated way to enjoy the positive properties of ginger in concentrated form – whether at home, in the office or on the go.

Voelkel has developed three exciting varieties for the perfect taste and a broad target group appeal: Pure Ginger for those who love the full spiciness, Ginger & Turmeric as a powerful combination of two traditional superfoods and Ginger & Berries, in which the subtle sweetness of the berries harmoniously complements the spiciness of the ginger. This variety is also reflected in the design: the packaging is fresh, bold and colorful – matching the intense flavors of the shots.

Each variety was given its own distinctive color scheme, which not only ensures high recognition on the shelf, but also visually underlines the respective flavor. Combined with modern, dynamic design elements, the packaging conveys energy, naturalness and a pinch of liveliness at first glance – exactly what Voelkel ginger shots stand for. Traditional knowledge about the power of ginger is combined with a contemporary, trend-conscious appearance that makes you want to treat yourself to a little spicy kick.

Our challenge was to develop a layout that was equally effective and eye-catching on all formats – from the small 60 ml bottle to the larger 280 ml bottle and the counter display. It was particularly important for the different sizes that the design retained its radiance and recognizability without losing clarity or detail. The solution lay in a combination of dynamic typography, vibrant colors and expressive illustration.

The delicate illustration of ginger and turmeric forms the heart of the design and subtly conveys the naturalness of the ingredients. These fine drawings are complemented by high-quality food photography that shows the flavor-giving ingredients in their full freshness and intensity. This mix of hand-drawn elements and realistic illustrations creates a harmonious balance between naturalness and modernity – exactly what Voelkel ginger shots are all about. The counter display also picks up on these design features and ensures a strong presence at the point of sale by showcasing the different varieties in an eye-catching way and visually reinforcing the message of a healthy, natural booster.

A particular highlight of the 280 ml bottle is its practical dosing system: a clearly visible scale on the bottle divides the contents into six equal portions, allowing consumers to measure out exactly how much they want to consume per day. This feature not only makes the larger bottle particularly consumer-friendly, but also supports conscious consumption and helps to reduce packaging waste. Thanks to the clever dosage, consumers can decide individually whether they want to treat themselves to a little ginger kick on the go or enjoy the bottle over several days.
