A 75th anniversary and an eventful company biography: a good reason for HUOBER BREZEL to produce an anniversary book. The wish was to record and document the most important milestones, but not in chronological order. Instead, the aim was to create a lively portrait of a community that has stood for high-quality products for generations – now in organic quality.
In the first step, we designed the company’s history along formative themes, people and values – from the artisanal beginnings to trend-setting ideas and commercial skills as well as pioneering achievements in the organic movement to the modern, sustainable production of today.
After intensive research on site, many interviews and with the smell of fresh pastries from the bakery in our noses, we worked out the stories piece by piece. The proximity helped us to understand the special culture and community of the company. Our aim was to make the special spirit of this grown company community, which today also includes the sister companies ErdmannHAUSER and BioGourmet, tangible in the concept, design and text.
We developed a design with a clear leitmotif: an illustrative pretzel dough strand that authentically manages both the reference to the craft and the integration of historical evidence. The typography, choice of materials and layout bring past and present together and give the book a visual calm that gives the stories space. Printing refinements such as finishing and pretzel-shaped cut-outs echo the claim “The brand through which the sun shines three times” and ensure a high-quality, coherent overall image, which was particularly important to the client.
The close collaboration on site and the deep understanding of the brand identity resulted in an anniversary book that goes far beyond a classic commemorative publication – a lovingly designed brand portrait that visualizes history, values and future vision in equal measure.
